Er hodepinen min farlig?

Spørsmål

Hi! I am on exchange here this semester from Denmark. I am writing because for like around a week, I've been experiencing this headache. It's like a mild headache pressing all around my head on both sides. My neck is not firm; I can move my head, but it's just a very stable, uncomfortable headache. I think it might be a "Spændingshovedpine", but I am not sure, because I have never had this before. I have some stressful things going on in my personal life. Can it be stress-induced? Or should I get it checked? I am writing because I find myself thinking: What if something serious is wrong with me? (which does not help the headache...) Thank you very much in advance!

Hei

I agree with you that your headache is most likely a tension headache based on the description of the pain. You have had a headache for about a week. You describe it as mild to moderate, pressing and symmetrical on both sides of the head, without nausea, vomiting, visual disturbances, dizziness or other neurological symptoms. You also have no symptoms of infection, but you are experiencing ongoing psychosocial stress. Usually the headache will go away on its own, but here is some advice that can help:

 - You can use paracetamol and ibuprofen if needed.

 - The most important thing is good habits in everyday life: make sure you get enough sleep, drink plenty of fluids during the day, and do pleasant activities that can help reduce stress and tension in the body

Even if the headache does not sound dangerous, it may be a good idea to make an appointment with a doctor if it persists for several weeks.

I hope this was helpful!
